Pilot training for the Dassault Rafale of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) is set to enter its final practical phase on 20 August, comprising full mission simulations and flight training.
This milestone coincides with the rollout of TNI-AU’s first Rafale, a two-seat D variant.
Four TNI-AU pilots, who have completed classroom instruction on aircraft systems and operational procedures, will transition to flight training at Saint-Dizier Air Base in France through December. In addition, twelve ground technicians have completed on-the-job training with various Rafale squadrons.
The first aircraft delivery is scheduled for January 2026.
Photographs released by TNI-AU show the initial Rafale painted in a two-tone gray camouflage scheme, bearing the serial number T-0301 and the insignia of Air Wing 7.
Air Wing 7 is based at Pekanbaru Air Base in Riau Province, Sumatra, tasked with safeguarding the strategic Malacca Strait as well as the approaches to the Indian Ocean.
